Toledo News:  Mark Twain Rewritten

I just watched a story on the WTOL Toledo News, and I wanted to get your opinion on it.  Mark Twain’s classic novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, is being rewitten to be politcally correct.  As the novel currently reads, it can’t be on the mandatory reading list, but is on an additional reading list.  Apparently, the alterations will allow an official recommendation.

What’s your opinion on the rewritten classic?

Between the various news channels that are releasing this, there seems to be some differing opinions on whether or not it’s a good thing, so I want to get your view.

  • Just because a word is offensive, should we rewrite an author’s work?
  • Do you think it does more harm or good to remove offenses from our history?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts below!
